Re-elect DuBois
I can no longer sit idly by and listen to and read the false and misleading statements as well as vile remarks directed at Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois from the camp of sheriff hopeful Tom Carton.
Carton and the cast of characters he has surrounded himself with have conducted a seedy campaign with tactics unworthy of a law enforcement professional, which Carton purports himself to be. I am, as Carton is, a retired sergeant from the NYPD, and am personally insulted that a former colleague could conduct himself in such a manner.
DuBois is the epitome of what a law enforcement leader should be — a person of high moral and ethical standards, with honesty and integrity of the highest caliber, and one dedicated to providing high-quality service to the people of Orange County. During the past three and one half-plus years, his first term in office, DuBois' accomplishments are innumerable.
The next time you see an Orange County deputy sheriff or correction officer, take notice of the crisp, clean uniform and professional appearance and demeanor. These qualities are indicative of, and insisted upon by their leader, Sheriff Carl DuBois. He is the right man for the critically important job of Orange County sheriff. Secure the future of Orange County by re-electing DuBois Sept. 12.

DuBois supportive
Last fall, when our family was hit with the devastating news of a malignant brain tumor in our 14-month-old son, Johnny, the first thing that comes to mind is not financial concerns, it is doing whatever it takes to make him well. That, however, was not the case for Carl DuBois — he knew finances would be a situation that had to be addressed.
We did not know this man personally. We certainly knew of him as our sheriff and we felt he was doing a fair and honest job for our county, but that was the extent of our association with him.
However, while we were going through the daily runs to New York City to be with our little one through his surgeries and daily radiation treatments, DuBois contacted our family, eager and ready to help in any way possible.
He is actively involved with the Brittany Miller Foundation and was ready to extend whatever assistance they could provide. He is an extremely warm and compassionate man who took the time to seek us out and offer us help. While we did not need to take advantage of their kind offering to us, this only elevated our admiration and respect for the man. There is no doubt in our minds he is a person of character and integrity and we are thankful to know him.

Sheriff does job
Four years ago, Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois took office pledging to restore honesty, integrity and accountability to the Sheriff's Office. Today, we see that he not only fulfilled that pledge, but also surpassed it with major improvements and enhancements to make for a more efficient department that has restored the public confidence in the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
With enhanced training, improved levels of safety, and an overhaul of overtime procedures in place, in under four years, DuBois has led our Sheriff's Office to receive the highest honor a law enforcement agency can receive in New York state, law enforcement accrediation by the New York state Department of Criminal Justice. This is an achievement that would not have been possible if not for the professionalism and commitment to duty of DuBois.
If you take pride in our county, value professionalism, demand accountablity, and believe in discipline and fairness in operating the Sheriff's Office, then you will see the only clear choice in the primary on Sept. 12 is Sheriff Carl DuBois.
It is with great pride that I urge all my fellow Republicans to join me in electing DuBois to another term of office, enabling him to continue serving the best interests of the residents of Orange County.
