DuBois credited with turning Orange County Sheriff’s Office around

MidHudsonNews.com

Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, who was faced with an office that was in many ways about to crumble when he took office three years ago, has turned it around 360-degrees and the state has taken notice.

State Division of Criminal Justice Services Director Chauncey Parker yesterday presented DuBois with the official certificate of New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation. The Sheriff’s Office is one of six law enforcement agencies in Orange County to have such accreditation.

“Sheriff DuBois has really done something that is really remarkable, which is to go from almost being shut down before he got here, to then getting the gold medal standard of excellence,” Parker said. “I’ve never seen that before in New York State.”

Police chiefs from across Orange County, state and county officials, all attended the Goshen ceremony yesterday presenting the sheriff with the accreditation.

In order for the Sheriff’s Office to receive the special recognition, it had to meet 130 standards.

Parker complimented the office for its many innovations including converting from ink fingerprints to digital technology and a new children’s ID database.
